We wanted to take a few moments to let you all know what Fortress United has been up to since our last update.
The amount of help we received still blows us away. It’s because of each and every one of your donations and shares that we were able to make it more than halfway to our goal. While that wasn’t enough to overhaul the garage, Mom decided to let us take over the living room permanently. We’ve been able to use the donations we received to dampen the sound within the living room to lessen the chances of the police being called and make the sound level comfortable for those that live in the house.
For several months we were using lots of blankets and plywood to try to dampen the sound throughout the house. Thanks to your donations we have been able to install carpet to lessen echo, a door to close off one end of the area, and a huge barn door (filled with soundproofing) that slides shut to close off the largest opening nearest to the front door (and the biggest concern since this faces our lovely cop-calling neighbor).
We’ve been doing a lot of the work ourselves, and our parents have pitched in when and where they can. Jess’s dad did a beautiful job building and installing the barn door. Nick taught himself how to build the diffusers and saved a ton of money! We still have a few things we would like to finish up like some more sound foam for the walls, but that will come.
Now that we’ve gotten the rehearsal space complete, or mostly complete, we have everything in place to finish writing music for our upcoming album due out next year.
